Forward Ever, Backwards Never

Its been tooooo long!!! Whats up world??! Yes its been a minute since my last blog and its only right to keep my people updated on whats going on in my life. First I hope that while you're reading this everything is good with you and your family on your side. So here are some updates. Stay with me....It's been a minute:

Last time I posted something was summer-time. My son, Tristan, and I had a great summer and went alot of places. I released a mixtape "Let The Music Talk" [CLICK HERE FOR FREE DOWNLOAD] and had a party to celebrate the release.

Right after that I left to go back "home" to Grenada for some sanity. The trip was great and I was gonna stay permanently but God had other plans for me. I'll be back again soon but big up to all the radio stations, clubs, Bling, Slatta, Sara Caroline, Don Carlos, all my family and friends for making my trip the highlight of my year. And of course big up and thanks to God for bringing me back to my roots to see the real beauty of the COUNTRY again.

MUSIC vs THE MUSIC BUSINESS
So I came back and got refocused. And I had come to the conclusion that the music industry itself is very corrupt and filled with hypocrites, liars and more snakes than in any other business outside of the stock market. MUSIC itself though is PURE and is a energy and a gift that we artist are blessed to have. So I am taking a break from the corruption of the biz and I am only recording and creating musical works when I have something to say, to vent or simply just for fun. This means I'm taking a break from ALL interviews, collabs, industry meetings and most parties.

Check out my LAST interview here:

Truth be told I dont even go to many parties and concerts anyway. Honestly I would rather go to a reggae/dancehall Sound Clash war before I go to a big concert with everyone in the game. But hey..thats just me. (Oh..you dont know what that is? Here is small clip of 2 sound clashes.)

GENESIS SOUND reppin NY:

RIP Squingy, Bass Odyssey playing:

So like I was saying... I got refocused. Picked up my books and getting my priorities in order. Putting education first and I'm on the road towards true success and happiness. Nothing is more respected in this world than stability. The regular hustling outta road ting naah work again. So while most of my friends were partying I have been here studying algerbra and decimals again. As time goes along I might speak more on this.

But I'm still creating MUSIC when I feel it's needed. At the end of the day I could care less about fame and I dont want people to dwell on what was done "7 years ago". That's crazy; The whole "Dylan...Dylan...Dylan... I spit hot fire" Making The Band thing blah blah was great...but c'mon son. That's getting very old now. Respected YES but it's in the history books. Leave it there. No one reading this is the same person that they are now, as they were when those shows were on. (Shytt...if you are still on the same level as you were 7 years ago then you need to stop reading this and do something different with your life) lol. What I'm saying is.... when I'm gone and life's curtains are closed I wanna be known for being a good person that made good music. BUT "Music is only a PIECE of a persons life. It is NOT your WHOLE life". (Big up Pastor O for that quote)

MUSIC
Now as far as music? It still will continue when I am ready. Here are 3 parts to a mini-movie. Airplanes, Numbers and then lastly the two in one done in a different style. Thanks to my brother Mazi for the great work and everyone involved.

I know many people know my name, The Chapelle skits, the making the band, etc...blah blah, rae rae rae....FACT: Many people have forgotten the root of all of this attention and fame
People get so caught up with the lights, camera and attention that they sometimes forget the real reason why your known in the 1st place. It all started with MUSIC and will end with MUSIC. With that being said...I decided to give my new project this following title:

" LET THE MUSIC TALK"

 CONDOLENCES...
Few years ago I had the chance to work with the Greatest photographer ever. His name is Stan Shaffer. He was 60-something years old in age but with 21 yr old energy and his work is timeless and beautiful. I used to hang out at his place daily after "Making the band" was finally over and I met a lot of great people over there including my producer Eddie Loco, BurnemUp, Dj Sickamore, top models of all kinds and a load of great people within entertainment. He worked with the best in high fashion and the "Vogue" lifestyle yet knew more reggae music than most Caribbean people. I shared MANY great memories with him and I will never forget how great of a man he is. Cheers to you Stan and eternal blessings. My love, condolences and Sympathy to Allie, his daughter, his son, the whole family and every friend that shared in his life journey. May God bless. One Love. Thanks Stan.

I LIVE AND DIE FOR YOU

I remember one time someone asked me " Dylan...If you could go back into time during the Making the band days and change one thing, what would it be?". Now usually my answer is "Nothing...because everything that I did has made me the stronger man and artist that I am today". But this particular day, I answered the question differently and I told him, "I wish I had a son back then.

Deep. Kids change everything. Having a kid changes your perspective on a lot of things. I've been thru a lot, most of which you will never know unless you banged with me or grew up with me. I've seen jail cells, gunshots, drugs, been shot at, cut, did the shooting, did the stabbing, the fuckery, the crazy nights, the showbiz, the groupies and much more....most things which didnt earn me anything. I would NEVER want my son to go thru half of what I seen.

He is going on 6 years old and I won't even introduce him to the women I date...unless one passes the test of time and is worth it, because I dont want him getting attatched. I have changed his diapers and doctored his flu when he caught it. He has been living with me and I have been raising him for the past 3 or 4 years now. I teach him about God and real life. This world is so corrupted that I dont know if I should even have any more kids. Parents in the bizz....and those in any hustle...lets TRY and remember that whatever we do...one day...kids are gonna see that. Whether your Dylan, Diddy, 50cent, Superhead, Kat Stacks or Keisha from BK, NY...our kids will know and see the things we do. And if you've been thru the concrete like I have, then you KNOW thats some of that stuff is no good for our babies to grow up to. Like I said...Im faaar from perfect...Jah knows!! But I am TRYING my best to raise my son to be the next President of his Own world. One Love and blessings to everyone with kids and all the single parents.

And to my son Tristan who will one day probably read this ( because everything on the internet last forever): I love you and Daddy did his best to provide for you. For the nights when I wasn't "there", I was still there. Please stay positive and never be a follower of people. Follow God and everything will be alright. I love you. Blessings.

BACK FOR THE FIRST TIME...

Greetings. Big up. and Blessings to ALL.

Welcome to my life. I would be lying if I said "welcome to my site or blog" because this is a lot deeper than that. Im taking my time out to gladly welcome you to the thoughts of my mind and the experiences that I have gone thru. A story about Music, Melodies, Blessings, curses, travels, sex, violence, late nights and sometimes morning Regrets. But more importantly I wanna welcome you to Truth. I give to you my life. All I ask from you in return is to stick around, enjoy the vibes and accept and respect the movement with an open heart and mind.

Some of you know me from MTV's reality show "Making The Band 2" and a Chappelle Show skit from his series. Both were successful but if you ask those viewers to name a song of mine they cannot. If you ask those same people if they have ever seen me perform live (with or without my live band) most probably never have. Understand there were many roadblocks since the show and not blaming anyone; it truly made me a stronger and better artist. No matter what you think, those TV shows were 6 years ago. And I doubt your life is the same as it was 6 years ago. Not only that, but if you continue doing something for 6 years the only result that will come from such hard work is greatness. So expect only the best. If I can let the world hear my voice and be moved by my music, help my family, raise my son right, invest into positive businesses and help those in need around the world then my mission will be complete. My dream of being a successful solo artist is now being started in Your eyes and now you have a front row seat to my personal Movie. Those who are true to themselves will relate and this LIFE page will be your new habit and part of your daily and weekly routine.
Ok...blah blah blah.....lets continue.
